Picnic Recap
Another successful picnic with our friends. It was great to see everyone and have the chance to talk and compare stories about our bearded friends.
One Saturday we had 14 dogs pass the instinct herding test with Amanda. Our dogs worked those sheep over pretty good I thought. Certainly was great to see the new dogs and their owners out there. I thought everyone did a good job. Beth and Kodi probably won the best new team award and Lauren was a champ taking Guiness in when she was terrified by the sheep to begin with. I’m sure Guiness had more fun. Look for the pictures in the album. Lauren is the one with the hat and red hair!!
After testing the sheep we decided to try out some puppies with the ducks. I happened to have three 13 week old puppies with us and Amanda mentioned testing them as well only with ducks. Pictures are worth a thousand word so check out the web site to see how they did!!
After that we all enjoyed each others company with a tailgate picnic in the shade trees at Amanda’s. When the day came to an end we all went our separate ways. Some when home and others went off to prepare for the next day. I myself wanted to take my aching body to bed but Louie and Betsy kept me going right up to the end!
Sunday arrived with birds singing and sun shining as if the weather was made just for us. Betsy had worked hard on cleaning and cutting the lawn. All we had to do is get things organized for the food and drinks. As people came, the table started to fill up quickly and before you know it there was food enough for an army of Shana people.
Our guest judge, Joan Morse, started to test our dogs for the AKC CGC test. I was so proud of all that took part in that. It was great! We had 11 dogs test and qualify for their certificates. Garth was our oldest Shana dog there. He is 13 years young and still going strong. He is a 5-yr cancer survivor and he passed his CGC with flying colors!
The dogs go crazy to see Louie and me. Doesn’t matter if we just saw them yesterday or 2 years ago. They never forget us! They are amazing!
As they were finishing that up we started getting things ready to eat! We were starved! Brenda’s dad did a great job handling the BBQ while others were off making last- minute salads.
All through the day we had games and prizes. Everyone one loved their new t-shirts. We took pictures all day and have them on our album to share with all of you. I think the count for the day was 26 people and 40 Shana dogs!
Plans are in the making for our next Shana picnic. Hope you can make it!
Thanks goes out to all that helped bring this together, Amanda Nickel, Betsy Seiffert, Joan Morse and all those Shana people! It was great!
